Can You Wear Clogs With Skinny Jeans.

Updated on January 24, 2013

Yes, clogs are going to be huge on the fashion scene.

Clogs are set to be a huge fashion trend this year, you know it, I know it and anyone who knows anything about fashion knows it.

Making an early appearance for spring and continuing all the way up until mid autumn.

Clogs have had a complete image overhaul, as a result of many designers, including the likes of Chanel, D&G, Kurt Geiger and Christian Louboutin, adopting them on the catwalk walks at the beginning of the year.

Wooden clogs have been officially stripped of there association with Scandinavian milk maids and more recently the practical yet rather unflattering, rubber ones worn by nurses. They are soon to be the most sort after item of footwear and like any savvy follower of fashion, you know that to get a head, you want to get a pair first.

Clogs are in fact very versatile and can be worn with more of your wardrobe then you may at first think, I'll go into that in a bit more detail later.

Can't shop right now and just want to browse? Can't wait to get your hands on a pair of clogs? Maybe you just want some ideas about whats available?

Online or instore.

Whether you are thinking of buying clogs online or in store, there is already a huge range available.

  • Asos do a great slim healed pair for only £75.
  • Office have a beautiful suede pair for even less only £65.
  • However if you do want to splash out, Gerard Darel, have a fine lace up version with a twist, for £160.

Many stores are also cottoning on fast with some cheap and cheerful alternatives including, other high street favourites New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Top Shop, Peacocks and more.

What to waer them with?

Most styles can be worn with floral 70's inspired dresses that are soon to be big in fashion soon also. Wooden and leather, or suede pastel shades will all go equally well with the light flowey dresses.

Clogs will also go well with denim shorts, whether they be dark indigo or stone wash.

Skinny jeans will remain in and alothough on principle it should not work as a fashion principle, it so does. Larger bottomed jeans will also be introduced to accommodate the heavier clogs for those who are not as confident about showing there legs off.

Brighter coloured skinny jeans, leggings and statement trousers most definitely dominate throughout the season so don't put any of them at the back of the wardrobe just yet, team them under skirts or dresses with clogs, like the models in the catwalks have for a modern edge, to the look.

Casual and work wear.

Crocs have been popular lately especially on the sports and beach scene, if you fancy something less dressy and more comfortable, this is one good alternative.

Similarly flat or low heeled, black, blue or even red patent clogs will be fine for a professional look in the work place.

Dansko women's professional clogs, in particular have a great range currently available. You can wear them with a classic cut suit, dress or skirt and shirt combo.

If you are not quite ready to embrace high end fashionable clogs, it maybe worth trying one of the above options first.

Groovy

Because this trend for clogs is 70's inspired, like the larger flared jeans and floral dresses, there will be a come back for other apparel and accessorize from this decade too.

For this look think happy hippie, bright striking pattens, love peace and groovy baby. Enjoy it, embrace it and just let it all hang out.
