Eurovision song contest results for 2010.
63The eurovision winners and losers of 2010.
This years eurovision song contest was the 55th in it's history and held in the Telenor Arena in Oslo, Norway. Where 40 countries voted and 25 countries battled it out to become the coveted eurovision song contest winner for 2010.
As ever it was filled with a plethora of diverse acts, music, performances and song's that we come to expect from this annual event. There was the usual cheesy pop, odd rock, epic ballads and funny folk tunes making there usual eagerly anticipated appearances.
Although the night was as grand and glittery as any other previously, it did like most things unfortunately fall victim of the 2009 recession and a few countries decided to opt out of entering in 2010 because they could simply not afford it.
However rather surprisingly that did not seem to deter Greece, who showed up with there song and act, even though there financial troubles were the worst in Europe.

It was Germany's year.
Yes the winners were Germany, their entry was sung by Lena Meyer-Landrut.
She is causing quite a stir at the moment and the young singer looks set to be a huge music star throughout Europe. (Or so I read.)
As the winners they are to hold the eurovision song contest in Germany next year.
The U.K. didn't do quite as well.
Yes the united kingdom came last and not for the first time either, with the bookmakers giving it a 125/1 chance of winning, it seems there wasn't any great expectation of winning this year with Essex's singer, Josh Dubovie and the song that sounds good to me.
In the U.K. there is a pretty substantial attitude split when it comes to the Eurovision song contest, there are those that love it, find it fun and even hold annual Eurovision song contest parties. Then there are those that find it ridiculous and a waste of time, saying that as long as the same countries keep voting for their neighbours, we haven't got a chance of winning. But weather you like it or loath it, it looks like it's here to stay.
It's fair to say that this year wasn't exactly our best year and we hardly got a great result, however nor was it our worst. We did at least get into double figures after all.

Well. you have broadened my vista, wrenfrost. Have to admit I had never heard of the Eurovision song contest. Have to get out more.
Sorry about the last place slot for UK. Maybe next year is UK's year.
Hi wrenfrost
I'll have to watch out for Lena Meyer-Landrut and see if she can follow in Abba's shoes!
Amber:)
Wrenfrost enjoyed the overview - I watched it this year and there were some great ones and some clangers - but isn't that the beauty of Eurovision :) We will see how Lena takes off and be back watching next years in Germany.
